Reddit Dickbending Incident

The Reddit Dickbending Incident is an ARG created by 0bOp on April 9th, 2020 to re-promote his server after it shut down in March. All of the known clues are on this page, and as of April 2024 it is currently unfinished/unsolved. Everything in the "Original transcriptions" section was written by 0bOp himself, likely as a way to make it easier to solve.

On April 10. a bot spammed a crypted message on reddit.com/r/dickbending.

One day later reddit user /u/VERONICA_DOOM left a message on the 0b0t discord where she said the following:

On the same day the crypted message got encrypted:

"April 9th, 2020.

Ok. I've figured out everything so far, and I will update this everything I see something new. If you see something I miss, tell me, as I cannot constantly check the server, I only check it when I wake up and before I go to sleep.

This seems to be a promotion for the Minecraft server 0b2t.org. If you check their discord and go to the Reddit feed there is a deleted post talking about promoting the server one bot at a time (both mods seem to be bots).

So yeah, this a way to promote a Minecraft server.

Ok, I cannot solve the comment cipher. It doesn't work with hexidecimal, which it should, as it fits all the requirements to be in it if I am correct (0-9s only, A-Fs only). Please help me solve this.

This book was confirmed to be passed out by the owner, 0bOp, between April and December 2020.

Although the ARG died on Reddit after it was revealed the purpose was to advertise the server, the clues continued on 0b0t. Between April and December of 2020, a book was occasionally given out by 0bOp with the author being a hexadecimal string of characters. Inside, the book contains directions to a defunct Github link. This Github link was defunct since July 25, 2020 according to FlamingBird101, whom received this book on that day. Due to the fact that the book was "signed" by a 32 character name, it is an illegal item that is sought after by collectors. Others known to have possessed the book in 2020 are clicktp and sociobiology.

However, the description was updated before April 11, 2020 to indicate that the clue is in a map art. This indicates that 0bOp knew that the github link did not work and retired the book as an official clue. A map art made on May 1, 2020 has an ID of 7772, while 6357 is the latest ID posted to the wiki before April 9, 2020. While it could be earlier, the map will almost certainly be between IDs 6358 and 7772. Knowing 0bOp, he almost certainly made this map the vanilla way.

The dickbending subreddit was subsequently banned for its lack of moderation. u/spreadtheword0b0t was also suspended for violating Reddit policy. This means that if the ARG can still be solved, it is entirely contained to this page.
